Day Six at Red Magazine

Sorry there was no Blog post or outfit picture for Day Five but I was in a massive stress last night.  Virtually as soon as I got home I dropped my phone (thanks to my Dog) and got the "white screen of death".  Everybody was running round the house looking for old phones and any we found we either couldn't find the charger or my sim card wouldn't work in them.  Both me and my sister spent the whole evening trying to get hold of my Dad who has two Blackberry's so I knew he would let me use one, but it was gone 10pm when he finally rang back, so an outfit picture was the last thing on my mind.

Today was my last day at Red Magazine and although commuting has been really tiring, I have loved every minute of it and have been told to give them a call whenever I have any free time in the holidays.  I was given a goodie bag when I left today which was really sweet of them, lovely little girlie bits, a French Connection notebook, La Perla body lotion some, nail polish, Wolford tights, hand cream and nail file.  Then my two most favourite things a gorgeous Escarda Horse necklace and a Cambridge Satchel Company bronze metallic small bucket style satchel which I am using tonight.

I haven't yet worn any of the new stuff I bought this week except for something I bought today and have just put on - a bodysuit from Miss Selfridge which I have teamed with my Disco Pants from American Apparel, as I am just going out with my friends to Nando's.

So its back to the weekend job tomorrow meaning I will have worked 10 days on the trot, I can't wait for a lay in on Monday and two relaxing weeks before I go back to Uni.

Have a lovely weekend

Day Four at Red Magazine

Another hot day in London and another lunchtime expedition to Topshop, Office and H&M all my favourite fashion destinations!

Pretty much the same today, getting outfits ready for three shoots abroad, labelling them up and writing the models names on them. Instead of sending returns back by courier, I had to take some back to a PR company by hand but it wasn't far and I didn't get lost!

I am as exhausted as ever, just in from work and it feels as if my tonsillitis I had last week is coming back, even though I finished all my antibiotics, so I am not happy and feel so bad again.
I have just instructed my mum that she has to wash my hair over the bath, paint my nails and wax my legs - this hot weather means I really need to leave the tights off and it is way too hot for trousers at the moment.

I really want some wedge sandals for summer that aren't too high so that I can wear them during the day.  I keep seeing them in the fashion cupboard at Red and every time I see a pair that I think would be perfect, I pick them up and they are like Marni or something, so I put them back - gutted!

I will be in on my own tomorrow as the two interns I work with are both off, one is on a shoot and the other has a press day.  I have been left a list of things by both of them that I have to do, including some Gucci returns, how lovely to be touching some Gucci!  I do have a Gucci bag and may use it tomorrow in honour of my returns!  One of the interns will be in at some point and says she will spend some time with me as she feels bad.  They have both said I can come back at anytime, maybe for a month or something when I have longer holidays from Uni which is nice, so hopefully I have done a good job and have learnt what to expect from a job or internship which I may end up getting one day.

I am off to have my nails painted with a new Nails Inc polish that one of the interns gave me. You will see it tomorrow.  I am also keeping the new clothes I bought for Friday as am meeting friends for Nando's after work, so shall keep you waiting!

Today I wore Topshop leather jacket, Zara T-Shirt, Uttam from Dorothy Perkins Pleated Skirt, Old Belt and Leopard print brogues. The skirt is actually bright Emerald Green but the colour doesn't photograph well!

Its 9.30 and time for bed, forgive me if I haven't had time to catch up with your blogs but I promise to catch up as soon as this week is over.

Day Three at Red Magazine

Day Three saw everybody leave the office for a press day and I was left on my own to source items for a feature which involved ringing lots of PR companies and trying to get the certain items requested into the office today!  I was actually quite surprised to be left in charge of doing such a thing, it seems like a lot of responsibility for somebody who is just doing a week and a day of work experience and who is in their first year of Uni, but I managed to get a few companies to send stuff in, so hopefully they will be pleased with my efforts! As well as that I was doing the usual - tidying, hanging up things that had been sent in, laying out stuff to show for a shoot, labelling clothes so we know which store to send them back to, popping down to the post room every now and again to see if anything has been sent in and everything else!

When I leave home at 6.35am and get off the coach at anything between 7.30 and 8.00pm in the evening depending on which commuter coach I have managed to get, it is really quite cold, especially as I live right near the sea, so its not easy when deciding what to wear as central London is really hot during the day.  Today I hit the shops again at lunchtime (purchases to follow) and then sat down in Carnaby Street to eat my lunch and was surprised to get street style papped twice whilst tucking into my peanut butter sandwiches and again when I was on my way back to the office!

I wore my new purchases today and am amazed that loads of Bloggers seem to have the H&M floral trousers but I guess it is because they are such a great price. (£12.99)  The pink peplum top is also from H&M. (£19.99)

I am so tired, I really need to wash my hair tonight but think I might be hitting the Batiste can again!  Being in the Red magazine fashion cupboard is more important than greasy hair, I couldn't miss this opportunity, so please bear with me if I don't look my best this week!
Until tomorrow

What do you think of my outfit?

Day 2 at Red Magazine

Dress - Dorothy Perkins// Tights - House of Holland for PP// Leather Jacket - River Island// Earrings - River Island// Dr Martens - Office// Ring - Disney Couture// Bag - Marc Jacobs

I thought I'd keep you updated on my time at Red magazine, it's day two and the start of my first week. I've pretty much done similar things today - picked clothes up from Zara and American Apparel for shoots, done lots of returns, phonecalls to PRs, hanging up clothes that have been sent in and lots of other things! I'm loving it all and I can't wait until I am actually doing something like that full time.

Here's a quick post of my outfit of what I wore there today! I bought a new outfit today which I will be wearing tomorrow so I will post it for you.

My First Day At Red

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I started work experience at Red magazine working in the fashion department which has all been very exciting! After leaving my house at 6:30am to get the coach to London and getting home just after seven this evening it's been a very exhausting day. I've been doing returns, sticking pictures in the fashion look book, answering lots of phone calls and picked up jewellery for a shoot, along with lots of other little bits. I started at ten this morning and finished about 4:20 this afternoon but my hours next week are 9:30-5:30. I'm going to be absolutely knackered by the end of next week but it will be well worth it and I've really enjoyed it so far. It's right by Oxford Street so at lunchtime I popped into Topshop and treated myself, here is what I bought:

I got these super sweet frilly socks - I especially love the lilac and pastel blue ones and I got the black ones as I've lost one the pair I already had as I wear them a lot with my flatforms and creepers. I'm planning to team the pastel coloured ones with super cute mary-janes or sandals for the summer.
Bralets are all in this season and what's better than baring some flesh when it's mega sunny whether it be here or on holiday - I can't wait to wear them.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

HELP! Sunglasses for Summer

I'm currently suffering from an awful case of Tonsillitis at the moment - I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't swallow, I'm sleepy, I feel sick, I have ulcers on my tongue, one minute I'm hot and one minute I'm cold and I have the worst cough ever. But anyway, while I'm severely suffering I've been thinking about what designer sunglasses I am going to purchase this Summer with my many holidays, outings and festivals. I am a designer girl at heart as my mum brought me up in everything designer and the three things I have to have which are designer and not from the high street are my Handbag, my bikinis and my sunglasses. So as I've been sitting at home helplessly I have started my quest and I need your help and opinions to help me decide.

Which ones have taken your fancy and you think I should buy?

Hairspiration

Despite how many times I've changed my hair in the past couple of months, I'm a natural blonde and definitely a blonde at heart and seeing these pictures here is really making me miss it. I miss being able to wear what colour lipstick I want and not having to worry about what will clash with my hair.

These are just a couple of the new styles/colours I have tried. Which one is your favourite?
I will be going back blonde all over at some point but while I'm going through this phase I'm thinking I might as well try everything I want to.

These four pictures above are a couple that I am thinking of trying out myself! What do you think?

High Street Holiday Must Haves

As a girl who got brought up wearing designer clothes but now I'm older and I have to buy my own clothes I love the high street - mainly because it's much more friendly to my purse but as I grew up I realised I didn't just need designer clothes. Now when I need clothes the first places I turn to are Topshop and ASOS. So that's exactly what I did when I realised pay day is next week and I have a few holidays/trips/festivals this summer (Ibiza x 2, Marbella, Creamfields and Paris) that I need to refurbish my summer wardrobe for. These are actually all from Topshop as I am totally in love with their Spring/Summer collection especially the amazing shorts they have to offer.
I WILL buy all of these shorts and wear them all summer long. I know it will be expensive but I will definitely get the wear out of them and I will team them with my bralets/crop tops as I love wearing them in the summer when I've got a tan.

What do you think of my must have summer clothing?

It's All About The Dip Dye - 'How To'

As I have had a lot of people commenting on my dip dye, I thought I'd do a 'How to' post in case any of you wish to try this at home.
I know it's not exactly rocket science, but I thought I would go through the procedure so that people know what dye to use and how much I mix up. I usually always go to the hairdressers for it but when she can't fit me in, I've done it at home myself, using the same hair dye which is a semi permanent which just sits on the hair and will wash out.

Essential bits and pieces: Mixing bowl, painter brush, bowl, Crazy Colour in 'Pinkissimo' and conditioner

You have to apply crazy colour to wet hair so you need to wash your hair first and divide it into layers starting from the bottom

You need to mix the colour with conditioner depending on how bright you want it to be, add more conditioner for it to be lighter and less for it to be brighter

You should mix it up a little bit darker in the bowl as it will come out a shade lighter once it has been washed off and dried

Once you have painted the dye onto each of the sections it should look like this (above) and you should leave it on for about 15/20 minutes for a bright, even, all over coverage.

Then voila! This is the end result...

I use the same product and copy the procedure as used by my hairdresser.  I buy the crazy colour hair dye from Sallys but you can also buy it very cheaply on ebay for just over £2. My tint brush is from Superdrug and cost just over £1. I have the pink and the lilac crazy colour.  I have been told these "cool" colours wash out easily but it may not be the case if you applied red on hair as blonde as mine.

I have been all over dark fuschia pink in the past (see pic at side of my blog) which washes out to the kind of shade as seen on Amelia Lily when she was on x-factor.  I suggest you start with a heavily diluted colour and go darker as you gain more confidence in the colour and its ability to wash out easily.

Do you think you will give it a go?

Florence & The Machine

I'm afraid to say this is going to be a pretty picture heavy post as I went to see the AMAZING Florence and the Machine at the Alexandra Palace in London, which by the way was a gorgeous venue. This was the second time I've seen her live as I saw her at The Hammersmith Apollo in 2010 and she's exceeded my expectations everytime, she is incredible. I'm absolutely in love with her album 'Ceremonials' especially after hearing it all live. The whole venue is standing which is different to when I saw her last time as I was sitting - I'm not sure which I prefer as both as positives and negatives. Like with standing although you're much closer and can actually see her properly, people block your vision and your legs severely ache by the end but I did like being more in with the action.

How amazing is her catsuit!

She was supported by 'The Horrors' who I'd heard of before but never heard there music and thought they were ok and 'Spector' I hadn't heard of before but really liked them, so I will definitely be downloading their songs.

Myself and sister Courtenay

Left - Right
My big sister Courtenay, her friend Cleo, my biggest sister Chloe and myself
Here is what I wore:

Top - Topshop//Pants - American Apparel// Dr Martens - Office// Bag - Marc Jacobs// Ring  - Accessorize
Purple Lipstick - 'Kate' range for Rimmel

If you haven't seen Florence and the Machine and you are a fan (not that anyone couldn't be) I would really recommend getting tickets to see her, you won't be disappointed considering she's even better live.

Feeling Blue

Shirt-ASOS//Jumper-ASOS//Jeans - H&M//Collar Clips - ASOS// Ring - Accessorize// Creepers - T.U.K (Sarenza)

At the weekend I had a photoshoot I needed to do for uni and so my dad bought me my own professional camera, so this is first blog post using it, exciting!

I have today and tomorrow off from uni, so tonight and I am going to stay at the University of Kent with one of my best friends for Carnage which I am pretty excited to do and then we're going to eat away the hangovers the next day at Wagamamas!

So this is what I'm wearing today -
I got my collar clips for christmas so I am afraid they no longer have them on ASOS.
My blue jeans were a complete bargain at £14.99 from H&M and they make a nice change to boring black and I love them with the shirt.

I wore the creepers because the pink detailing on them matches my pink dip dye and my pink nails :)

I did my first dip dying at home this morning (as you can see it's nice and bright again!) where I got my mum to do it as I always go to the hairdressers but really needed it topping up and my mum bought the dye for me the other day. So I am going to do a step by step tutorial for anyone who is interested, which will be up on Thursday - I hope it's helpful!
